Course
Overview
Two-hour session: Overview on Smart Interactive Whiteboards using
the Smart Notebook Software. Lessons will be demonstrated along
with the features of teaching with an interactive whiteboard.
Half-day session: Features of the SMART Interactive Whiteboard are
detailed, and some teachers will be used to demonstrate the features
and how to put together a lesson on a SMART Board using the Smart
Notebook.
Full-day session: This workshop allows teacher to get some hands-on
time on a SMART Interactive Whiteboard, use the Smart Notebook to
create slides which can become a part of a lesson.
Two-day session with Graduate Credit option: This is full immersion
into using and teaching with an interactive whiteboard and the SMART
Notebook Software. Teachers will learn how to make effective use
of an interactive whiteboard to reach students of all learning styles.
Teachers have extensive time to develop and practice using the all
the equipment related to a SMART Board. Teachers leave with a complete
lesson that they are ready to teach.
Program Deliverables
Training will be on-site training or at a centrally located training
facility. Courses are either MAC OS X or PC Window XP based. Additionally,
software from the manufacturer will be featured. Other software
and manufacture’s software can be used based upon class needs.
Objectives
- Teachers
will learn to set-up and configure the equipment they have available
for their classroom.
- Participants
will learn basic troubleshooting protocols.
- A hands-on
approach will be used so participants will be making a lesson
as a they go along
- Integration
of related peripherals, such as, scanners, digital cameras, streamed
video will be detailed
- Learning
styles will be stressed, so teachers recognize the need to leave
their comfort zone and develop lessons are effective with students
of various learning styles.
- Educators
will leave with a lesson that they can immediately utilize in
their classroom.
Hardware
& Software Requirements
For MAC Labs
- MAC lab
running OS X with classic mode available.
- Filters
removed so teachers may gain full Internet access.
- A minimum
of 10 people per class.
- Manufacturer’s
software for the interactive peripherals must be obtained.
- Any propriety
software that teachers will be expected to use, such as grading
program, attendance or graphic software should be made available.
For PC Labs
- PC lab running
the XP operating System.
- Filters
removed so teachers may gain full Internet access.
- A minimum
of 10 people per class.
- Manufacturer’s
software for the Interactive Peripheral must be obtained.
- Any proprietary
software that teacher will be expected to use, should be available.
At the completion
of the program the software, training materials and licenses become
the property of the education institution sponsoring the training.
Credit is available through
Ashland University, Bowling Green University, Cleveland State University, Kent
State University, Notre Dame College, University of Akron, University of Cincinnati
and the University of Dayton.
